OnePlus 15 Review: Insane Battery, Beast Performance… But a Shocking Compromise

OnePlus 15 Review

I’ve been using the OnePlus 15 as my daily phone for a while now, and this is not one of those “everything is amazing” flagship reviews. Yes, OnePlus has delivered serious power and battery life this time, but it has also made a few decisions that are hard to ignore at this price. The OnePlus 15 is bold, fast, and long-lasting — but it’s not flawless. Let’s break it down honestly.

Design: Premium Look, Mixed Feel

At first glance, the OnePlus 15 looks stunning. The flat edges, square camera module, and clean back design give it a very modern, almost iPhone-like presence. In hand, the phone feels solid and well-balanced despite weighing 215 grams. OnePlus has clearly focused on ergonomics, and one-hand usage is still manageable.

The aluminium frame adds rigidity, but the back panel doesn’t feel as premium as you’d expect from a ₹70,000+ phone. It’s not bad, but it doesn’t scream “flagship luxury” either. The new Plus Key replacing the alert slider is a smart move — it’s genuinely useful for quick actions like screenshots or launching the camera, and it grows on you fast.

Display: Smoothness You’ll Notice Instantly

The 6.78-inch OLED display is one of the phone’s strongest points. The 165Hz refresh rate isn’t just a spec on paper — scrolling, animations, and app switching feel incredibly fluid. Colors look natural, brightness is more than enough even outdoors, and watching videos or live sports is a pleasure.

The in-display fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 adds peace of mind. This is the kind of display you enjoy every single day without thinking about it — and that’s exactly how it should be.

Performance: Absolute Flagship Muscle

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the OnePlus 15 doesn’t struggle with anything. Multitasking is effortless, heavy games run smoothly, and extended usage doesn’t bring unexpected slowdowns. I tested the 12GB RAM variant, and it handled everything I threw at it without breaking a sweat.

What actually stands out is stability. Even after long gaming sessions, performance remains consistent. The dedicated Wi-Fi chip and Wi-Fi 7 support also make a noticeable difference if you’re on a fast network — connections feel more stable and responsive than previous OnePlus phones.

Software: Smart, But Still Learning

OxygenOS 16 feels clean and fast, but the real focus is the new Plus Mind feature. Saving on-screen content into a unified space sounds simple, but once you start using it, it becomes genuinely useful. Integration with Google Gemini adds contextual intelligence, and suggestions feel personal rather than random.

That said, not every AI feature feels polished yet. Some tools feel more like early experiments than finished features. The foundation is strong, but OnePlus still needs time to fully refine the experience.

Camera: Good, Not Great

This is where the OnePlus 15 starts losing points. On paper, the triple 50MP camera setup looks impressive, but real-world results are inconsistent. Daylight photos are sharp and vibrant, but OnePlus leans heavily on AI processing. Sometimes images look over-enhanced, losing natural tones.

Low-light performance is decent but not class-leading. The telephoto lens is fun to use, but beyond optical zoom, quality drops quickly. Selfies are social-media ready, but again, AI smoothing is aggressive. For a phone at this price, the camera system feels safe rather than exciting — and that’s disappointing.

Battery: The Real Star of the Phone

The 7,300mAh battery is a game-changer. This is easily the best battery life I’ve seen on a OnePlus phone. With normal usage, the phone comfortably lasts well over a day, often stretching close to two.

Charging is equally impressive. 120W wired charging gets you back to full in under an hour, and even a few minutes on the charger can give hours of usage. Wireless charging support is a bonus, making the overall battery experience truly flagship-level.

AI Features: Useful, Not Just Hype

Some AI features genuinely improve daily usage. AI Search, summaries, gallery editing tools, and gaming optimization actually save time. Voice AI reading articles in your own voice is interesting, and AI Scheduler can be helpful once set up properly.

Still, a few features feel unfinished and slightly gimmicky. They don’t ruin the experience, but they don’t fully justify the AI-heavy marketing either.

Price: Fair, But Questionable Value

The OnePlus 15 starts at ₹72,999 and goes up to ₹79,999. With bank offers, you can bring the price down slightly, but it’s still premium territory. At this level, expectations are extremely high — and OnePlus meets them in performance and battery, but not in cameras or material choices.

Final Verdict: Who Should Buy It?

The OnePlus 15 is a powerhouse. If you care about performance, battery life, display smoothness, and fast charging, this phone delivers exceptionally well. It’s reliable, fast, and built for heavy users.

But if camera quality is your top priority, this isn’t the best flagship for the money. At this price, competitors offer a more refined photography experience. The OnePlus 15 is a fantastic performance-first phone — just don’t expect it to be the most balanced flagship of the year.
